Best Fine-Dining Restaurants in Palma de Mallorca

If you’re heading to Mallorca and thinking beyond beach bars and tapas joints, you’re in for a treat. The capital, Palma, has built a seriously impressive fine dining scene — from seafood spots tucked inside markets to Michelin-starred restaurants set in historic buildings. Whether you’re celebrating something special or just want to see what happens when local ingredients meet serious culinary skill, here’s a list of best fine-dining restaurants in Palma de Mallorca, curated and fully approved by a local 🙂

Zaranda

Our most recent visit to Zaranda was nothing short of extraordinary and deserves a special mention here.

Chef Fernando Pérez Arellano, originally from Madrid, set base in Mallorca almost twenty years ago and was soon rewarded with two Michelin stars at the restaurant’s first location in Boutique Hotel Castell Son Claret. In 2021, Arellano found a new home for his restaurant at Hotel Es Príncep and immediately got his first Michelin star at this new location. After our recent culinary experience here, we’re sure they’re soon aiming for their second star!

It’s so much more than a fine dining experience, as you’re taking through a total of three different rooms. We started off in the bar with several appetizers while the hostess explained us the history of the building. Each dish was thoughtfully crafted, with a unique story behind as they all have a connection with the history of the leather tanning basins which are partially visible to guests through the glass floor.

After the bar they moved us to the open kitchen where the chef and his team introduced themselves and prepared our next dishes right in front of us. Then we were taken to the dining room to continue this culinary feast to end again at the bar for our final desert.

The team at Zaranda have known to create a superb tasting menu that melds traditional Mallorcan ingredients with contemporary culinary artistry.

Kraken Bestias de Mar

Located right inside Palma’s Mercat de l’Olivar, Kraken sources its seafood directly from the fish market or stalls each morning. This ensures exceptional quality and freshness, and you can taste it in every dish. It’s a place where the product is the star — and it’s treated with creativity and respect.

It’s only open for lunch from Tuesday – Saturday from 11:30am to 4pm (during the market hours) and they don’t accept reservations, so come early because you don’t want to miss out on this unique, authentic seafood experience.

DINS

Mallorca born chef Santi Taura opened DINS restaurant in the beautiful El Llorenç Parc de la Mar boutique hotel back in 2019 and has known to keep his Michelin star since 2020. The 11-course tasting menu (available for during lunch and dinner) showcases Taura’s passion for traditional Mallorcan cuisine and can be enjoyed at the bar where you will receive the chef’s explanations of each dish, or in a more intimate atmosphere of the dining room.

Little Jarana

This little gem, hidden in a small street of Palma’s old town, is one of the city’s best kept secrets. It’s a very intimate bistro-style restaurant where Mallorcan chef Abraham Artigas creates a wonderful menu of small plates meant for sharing, changing every one to two weeks to highlight the freshest local produce. Dishes are creative with a certain complexity yet very true to Mallorca’s cuisine. Seating is very limited so book well in advance!

Marc Fosh Restaurant

Chef Marc Fosh has been the first British chef to be awarded a Michelin star in Spain and his maintained his star for 10 consecutive years. His restaurant is beautifully situated within the historic 17th-century Hotel Convent de la Missió in Palma’s old town. The seasonal Mediterranean ingredients used in his cooking are mostly sourced from the restaurant’s farm on the Finca Son Mir. You can choose between two lunch menus and two more elaborate options, Marc and Aromas del Mediterráneo menu (the latter available for dinner only).

Adrián Quetglas

At his namesake restaurant located in Paseo de Mallorca, chef Adrián Quetglas is working hard to get back his Michelin star that he was awarded with since 2017. Born in Buenos Aires with a Mallorcan father and grandparents, Quetlgas has created an innovative and hybrid cuisine with influences from his time working in London, Paris and even Moscow. Either choose between the 5-step lunch menu or the 8-step dinner menu (available for lunch as well on Saturdays).

Fera

Located just off El Borne, Fera offers a fusion menu blending Mediterranean and Asian influences. The venue itself is a stunning palatial building featuring a variety of spaces spread across two floors, as well as a beautiful interior garden. Whether you’re looking for a short (4-course) or full (7-course) experience, this place caters to everyone with even an à la carte lunch menu and vegetarian menu.

About me

Hola! I’m Sofie, originally from Belgium but after living for 15 years in Spain, I officially call this my home 🙂 After several moves, we finally set base in the beautiful island of Mallorca. I might be biased, but this place really has it all: from stunning beaches, word-class restaurants and lovely mountain villages to the charming countryside with its vineyards in the interior of the island. As a travel planner at Sofie Travel, I want to share my personal take with you and I’m happy to address any questions you might have before traveling to Mallorca.
